Zavelberg Law is a Brussels firm of around seventy lawyers whose regulatory group has followed the EU AI Act from the Commission's first proposal through to the delegated acts and harmonised standards now being issued. Its clients fall into two groups: public authorities and EU-level bodies working out their obligations as deployers of AI, and financial-services firms whose credit, fraud and onboarding systems fall within Annex III. Services include legal opinions on classification and applicable obligations, drafting of AI governance policies and provider and deployer contract terms, and legal support during a conformity assessment, including review of the technical documentation and the declaration of conformity. The firm also monitors Commission guidance and standardisation activity and briefs retained clients monthly. Retainers run from fifteen to thirty thousand dollars a month and are the usual arrangement for institutional clients; discrete opinions and drafting projects are quoted separately, and gap analyses are scoped individually rather than priced from a menu. Lawyers work in English, French and Dutch from the Brussels office and travel to client premises across the EU when a matter calls for it.
