Privacy notice
Last updated
This notice explains, in plain English, what information ComplyIndex collects, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It applies to visitors, buyers who request an intro, newsletter subscribers, and practitioners who submit or claim a listing.
What we collect
- Intro requests. When you use the “Request intro” form on a profile we collect your name, work email, company, role, the framework and jurisdiction you need help with, your budget band and timeline, your message, and the page you sent it from.
- Newsletter. Your email address and where on the site you signed up.
- Provider submissions and claims. The listing details you supply (firm name, services, credentials and their holders, price bands, website, LinkedIn), a contact email for the listing, and the name and email of the person submitting or claiming it.
- Searches with no results. The filter combination or search term, without any identifier, so we know which categories to build next.
Why we use it
- Routing intros. The purpose of an intro request is to reach the practitioner you chose. We forward the details you entered to that provider's contact email and send you a confirmation copy.
- Lead quality and future billing. Every intro request is logged. We ask the provider whether it was a genuine enquiry, use the answers to remove listings that attract or generate poor-quality contact, and keep the log as evidence for per-lead pricing if and when that is introduced. Logged leads are not sold or shared with any provider other than the one you selected.
- Newsletter. To send the market updates you signed up for. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Verifying listings. Submission and claim details are used to check the listing against public registries and to confirm the claimant is connected to the firm, for example by matching email domain to website domain.
Who sees it
Intro requests are sent to the provider you selected and to no other provider. A blind copy of each forwarded request is archived in our own mailbox so we can resolve disputes about whether a lead was delivered. We use a transactional email service to send these messages and a hosted database to store records; both act on our instructions. We do not sell personal information.
Provider contact emails are never published. The contact email on a listing is used only to route intro requests and moderation messages. It does not appear on the profile page, in page source, in the badge, or in any feed.
How long we keep it
- Intro requests: 24 months from submission, so that lead-quality disputes and billing questions can be settled with reference to the original record. After that they are deleted or anonymised.
- Newsletter addresses: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Provider submissions and claims: for as long as the related listing exists, plus a short period to handle corrections. Rejected submissions are deleted within 12 months.
Analytics and cookies
We use Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics service that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data or track you across sites. We count page views and a small number of events (for example, an intro request being sent) without identifying who sent it. The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, email us at the contact address on our About page, or reply to any email you have received from us; we respond within 30 days. Practitioners who want a listing corrected or removed should use the claim form, which reaches the same queue.
Changes
We will update this notice when our practices change and show the date of the latest version at the top of this page. Material changes affecting newsletter subscribers will be announced by email.
