Terms of use

Last updated

By using ComplyIndex (the “directory”), whether as a visitor, a buyer requesting an intro, or a practitioner with a listing, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. Inclusion is not endorsement

A listing in the directory means the practitioner met our data requirements at the time of publication. It is not a recommendation, a rating, or a statement that the practitioner is suitable for any particular engagement. We do not act as agent for any listed practitioner and are not a party to any contract between you and a practitioner.

2. What verification means

The verified badge indicates that, on the date shown, we checked specific credentials claimed by named individuals against public registries or reviewed certificates, and confirmed that the business exists. It is a point-in-time check of those specific facts. It is not a guarantee of competence, quality of work, availability, insurance, regulatory standing, or continued validity of the credential. Our method, and its limits, are described on the verification page. Payment of any kind never influences a verification outcome.

3. Practitioner responsibilities

A practitioner who submits or claims a listing warrants that the information supplied is accurate and that they are authorised to supply it, including the names of credential holders. Claimed profiles must be kept accurate; tell us when a credential lapses, a named holder leaves, or a price band changes. We may edit any listing for clarity, consistency with our schema, or accuracy, and may decline, suspend or remove any listing at our discretion, including where a verification fails or where information is found to be misleading.

4. Corrections and takedowns

If you believe a listing about you or your firm is inaccurate, or you want it removed, submit the request through the claim form (which also handles corrections) or by email. We acknowledge and act on correction and takedown requests within 5 business days. Where a request concerns an unclaimed listing built from public sources, we may ask for evidence that you are connected to the firm before making changes.

5. Intro requests and the lead-gen pilot

Intro requests are forwarded free of charge during the pilot. By submitting one you agree that the details you enter are sent to the practitioner you selected and that the request is logged. Practitioners agree that we may ask whether a forwarded request was a qualified enquiry, and that logged requests and responses may be used to compute lead-quality and pricing metrics, in aggregate and in the annual pricing report. We do not guarantee that a practitioner will respond to any request.

6. Fees

Listing and verification are free. We will not charge any practitioner a fee for leads, featured placement, or anything else unless a separate written agreement setting out the price and terms has been signed by both parties. Featured placement, when offered, buys labelled position on category pages only and does not affect verification.

7. Acceptable use

You may not scrape, bulk-download, or republish listing data; send unsolicited marketing through the intro forms; submit listings or claims on behalf of firms you are not connected with; or attempt to influence verification outcomes. The embeddable badge may be used only by the practitioner it was issued to, on that practitioner's own web properties, and only while the listing remains verified.

8. Intellectual property

The listing descriptions, category copy, pricing report and site design are ours. Facts about practitioners remain facts; practitioners retain any rights in their own names, logos and marks. You may link to any page of the directory.

9. Limitation of liability

The directory is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, and we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on a listing, a verification outcome, price bands, or any advice or work provided by a practitioner you found through the directory. Our total liability to any person in connection with the directory is limited to the amount, if any, that person has paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction to be confirmed by counsel], and the courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, without prejudice to consumers' mandatory rights under local law.

11. Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top of this page shows the current version. Continued use of the directory after a change constitutes acceptance. Practitioners with claimed listings will be notified of material changes by email.
