The team of about twenty sits in Madrid with two consultants in Lisbon, and most engagements are bilingual. Work usually begins with a readiness assessment or a gap analysis against the EU AI Act and ISO/IEC 42001, priced as a fixed project and scheduled over three to six weeks depending on how many models are in scope. Clients who want to continue then move onto an implementation retainer, in which Almendra runs the AI risk register, writes the procedures, trains model owners and prepares the evidence a certification body or the Spanish AI supervisory agency will ask for. Retainers are billed monthly for a defined scope rather than by the hour. The firm's consultants come from internal audit and model risk backgrounds rather than software engineering, which means they are comfortable in front of a risk committee but do not build or test models. Almendra does not issue certificates, does not provide legal opinions, and partners with local law firms when a formal interpretation is needed. Meetings are held onsite in Madrid or Lisbon when the client prefers, otherwise remotely.
