Studio Legale Ostiense

Studio Legale Ostiense is a small Rome law practice of five lawyers advising healthcare providers, medical device companies and insurers on the legal side of AI deployment. Its founding partner spent a decade in the legal department of a hospital group before setting up the practice in 2021, and the client list reflects that: diagnostic software vendors dealing with the interaction between the AI Act and the medical device regulation, private clinics deploying triage tools, and health and life insurers using models in underwriting and claims. The firm works on retainer only, with a monthly fee sized to the expected volume of questions, and prefers long relationships to one-off opinions. Services are advisory and drafting: legal classification of systems, AI use policies, informed consent and transparency notices, data processing agreements, and clauses allocating AI Act responsibilities between providers and deployers. The firm does not conduct technical or bias audits, does not run gap analyses as a standalone product, and does not offer ISO 42001 implementation. Lawyers split their time between the office near Piramide and client sites in Rome and Milan. Fees are not published; a first call is free and a written proposal follows within a week.
