Pecan Hollow LLP is an Austin law firm with a technology regulation group that has spent the last two years advising on the Texas Responsible Artificial Intelligence Governance Act alongside the state laws its clients also face in Colorado, New York City and Illinois. The firm has about ninety lawyers in total, twelve of whom work on AI matters full time, and its clients range from HR software companies and consumer lenders to hospital groups deciding how much of their vendor stack needs a TRAIGA review. Engagements take one of two forms. Fixed-fee projects cover a defined deliverable such as an AI acceptable-use policy set, a deployer notice programme or a written analysis of whether a particular system falls within a statutory prohibition. Monthly retainers, generally in the fifteen to thirty thousand dollar range, give a general counsel ongoing access to the group for contract review, regulator correspondence and board reporting. The firm does not run bias audits or implement technical controls and will point clients to statisticians or consultancies for that work. Lawyers travel to client sites across Texas and the Southwest routinely, and several attorneys practise in Spanish. Gap analysis pricing is not published because scope varies widely.
