ZwillGen (AI Division, formerly Luminos.Law)

ZwillGen is a Washington, DC-based technology law firm whose AI division was formed in January 2025 when the firm took on the lawyers and data scientists of Luminos.Law. The division is directed by Brenda Leong, formerly Luminos.Law's managing partner. Engagements typically begin when a company building or deploying AI hits a testing or disclosure obligation: a New York City Local Law 144 bias audit of an automated employment decision tool, exposure under the Colorado AI Act or the EU AI Act, or an internal mandate to align with the NIST AI Risk Management Framework. The distinctive structure is that statistical bias testing and generative AI red teaming are carried out by data scientists employed inside the law firm and working with its lawyers, rather than by a separate technical vendor retained alongside counsel. The practice also drafts and operationalizes AI governance policies, runs vendor diligence, and handles AI-related disputes. Work is billed through monthly retainers, flat project fees, or hourly rates; specific prices are not published. ZwillGen is a law practice, not an accredited certification body, and does not certify clients against ISO 42001 or other management-system standards.
