Schellman is a US audit and certification firm operating through an alternative practice structure: Schellman & Company, LLC, a licensed CPA firm, and Schellman Compliance, LLC, which delivers non-attest cybersecurity and compliance services. The typical ISO 42001 engagement begins when a company deploying or selling AI needs an accredited certificate to satisfy enterprise procurement or regulatory expectations. Schellman performs the certification audit itself; its site states it is ANAB-accredited for ISO 42001, and UKAS named Schellman Compliance LLC in the first tranche of seven certification bodies in its ISO/IEC 42001 accreditation pilot in September 2025. Around the certification audit the firm offers NIST AI RMF assessments, EU AI Act assessments, HITRUST AI certification and AI red teaming, alongside a large SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI and FedRAMP practice. The AI and ISO practices are led by principal Danny Manimbo, based in Denver. Because accredited certification bodies must stay independent of what they certify, implementation is out of scope: a client builds its AI management system in-house or with a separate consultancy before Schellman audits it. The firm is headquartered in Tampa, reports 495 employees in its 2025 people report, issues more than 2,000 SOC reports a year, and works exclusively in IT compliance and cybersecurity assessment.
