Murtal Certification is an accredited certification body headquartered in Graz that audits management systems against ISO/IEC 42001 and ISO/IEC 27001, and offers combined audits for organisations pursuing both. The audit cycle follows the usual pattern: a stage 1 review of documentation and readiness, a stage 2 audit on site, annual surveillance visits and recertification in the third year. Auditors are assigned by sector experience and language, and the body maintains German-, English- and Italian-speaking audit teams for clients in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, northern Italy and, through a partner office, the United Kingdom. Quotations are prepared per organisation based on headcount, number of sites and the complexity of the AI systems in scope; the body does not publish price bands and does not offer retainers of any kind. From application to certificate typically takes four to seven months, depending on how quickly the client closes stage 1 findings. Murtal is strictly separated from consulting: it performs no gap analyses, implementation support or training for organisations it certifies, and its impartiality committee reviews every engagement for prior consulting relationships before an audit team is confirmed. The organisation employs around eighty staff, most of them auditors.
